State considers bill to lower procurement costs for municipalities

State lawmakers are focusing on "piggybacking-based" procurement policies in response to the growing demands for mandate relief among local governments and school districts.

The state Senate last week passed legislation that would allow a local government to contract with a contractor that’s already been awarded a bid with another local, state or federal governmental agency anywhere in the country.
