Spring into Fun with Senator Marcellino at the 9th Annual Health & Fitness Fair
Saturday, May 19th Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay will be the home to over 100 exhibitors as they demonstrate their specialties. Whether its live entertainment, with a special performance by Oyster Bay’s own Charlie Dane. (to hear about her ) fitness demonstrations, health screenings, interactive children's displays, sports, nutritious refreshments or just fun that interests you, join Senator Marcellino and the Oyster Bay- East Norwich Chamber of Commerce at this year's Annual Kickoff to a Healthy & Fit Summer.
“This year we have added something new, Anyone who wants to experience how dangerous it is to text while driving can take a “virtual ride” in a Distracted Driving Simulator. The message is powerful. As soon as the driver begins texting, you can watch how their speed changes, how they start to drift back and forth and other driver performance changes - exactly what happens in real life,” Senator Marcellino said
Join Senator Marcellino for a fun spring day and take part in the 7th Annual Brooke Jackman Foundation Race for Literacy. The 5K run/walk will take will place at 10:15 and the free 1/4 mile fun run for future Olympians, age 10 and under starts at 9:15 with the run at 9:45 am at the Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School in Oyster Bay. Dozens of prizes will be awarded to winners of all ages, and all participants will receive a high-quality commemorative T-shirt and water bottle. You'll have a great time and help advance youth literacy!
The Brooke Jackman Foundation is a not for profit organization created in response to the 9/11 World Trade Center attack that claimed the life of 23 year old Oyster Bay resident Brooke Jackman. Its mission is to honor Brooke's deep love of reading and interest in helping children by creating and supporting programs enhancing the literacy and self esteem of children.

"Each year I look forward to both the Health Fair and the Brooke Jackman Run for Literacy. This is a wonderful chance for families to gain information from a wide variety of exhibitors, as well as having a lot of fun," Senator Carl L. Marcellino said. "I urge young and old to take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn about the latest tips on how to continue their healthy lifestyle and enjoy doing it."
