INFORMATION ON NEW LEGISLATIVE DISTRICTS
Because of the redistricting that happens every ten years, Congressional and state legislative districts are changing this year.
For example, the 44th Senate District will be renumbered as the 49th District. The boundaries of this district have changed as well. The current district consists of Fulton, Montgomery, Schenectady and part of Saratoga counties. The new district will consist of Fulton and Hamilton counties, and part of Schenectady, Saratoga and Herkimer counties.
In terms of specific changes, this new Senate District will no longer cover Montgomery County or the towns of Rotterdam, Duanesburg, Princetown, Wilton or Greenfield. The communities that will be added to the district are Hamilton County, the Herkimer County towns of Fairfield, Manheim, Ohio, Russia, Salisbury and Webb, and the Saratoga County towns of Clifton Park, Malta and Milton.
