O'Mara poll: Is Cuomo budget plan headed in right direction?

Thomas F. O'Mara

Albany, N.Y., January 23—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Elmira) is giving residents of his 53rd Senate District an opportunity to weigh in on Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 2012-2013 proposed state budget through a new “quick poll” on his website.

Cuomo unveiled a $132.5-billion state budget proposal last week that, for the second straight year, calls for an overall reduction in state spending and a comprehensive realignment and restructuring of many state programs and services.

“I expect to hear directly from this region’s local leaders and concerned citizens, and I encourage and welcome their input.  The next step in this process is to carefully and deliberately explore the local impact of Governor Cuomo’s plan,” said O’Mara, whose 53rd District includes all of Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates counties, and part of Tompkins County (the city of Ithaca, and the towns of Enfield, Ithaca, Newfield, and Ulysses).
