Watkins Glen High School selected as one of 5 finalists in nationwide shoe design contest -- Congratulations!

A few days ago, I was glad to help spread the word that art students from Watkins Glen High School were Northeast regional finalists in a nationwide “Custom Culture” shoe design contest sponsored by Vans.

Now I'm truly glad to be able to say that Watkins Glen has been chosen as one of the 5 national finalists and will now go on to compete for the $50,000 Grand Prize.  According to the Vans website: “"These five schools will be flown out to Los Angeles and on May 30th, the grand prize will be awarded to one lucky winner at the Long Beach Museum of Art."

What a great honor and a real thrill for these local students and their teacher, Elaine Wotjus -- they make our entire region proud. Read more and view photos in The Odessa File: News of Schuyler County.

You can also read all about it on the Vans website here: http://www.vans.com/customculture/

And thanks again for all the support earlier this week during the online voting contest.
