Avella Will Sit on Senate's Banking Committee
State Sen. Tony Avella, D-Bayside, has been appointed to serve on the legislative body’s Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee.
The committee covers banking, insurance, financial markets, securities, housing, urban development, mass transit, international trade and finance and economic policy.
Sen. Minority Leader John Sampson, D-Brooklyn, appointed Avella yesterday to the committee.
“I am excited at the opportunity to have a more hands-on role in legislation that directly impacts our banking industry at such a crucial economic time,” Avella said. “At the same time, I look forward to have additional influence that may ease the path to addressing my constituents’ specific concerns involving mortgage rates, loan modifications and interest rates.”
The senator also sits on the Environmental Conservation and Cities, Education, Aging, Agriculture and Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs committees.
