Fracking Moratorium Vote Urged (Source: Times Union)

State Senate Democrats and opponents of the controversial natural gas drilling technique known as hydrofracking called on the chamber's Majority Coalition to take up a bill that would ban its use through May 15, 2015.

"New Yorkers deserve a vote on this issue, because it is an issue that will impact each and every one of us," said Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins at a Wednesday news conference.

The bill, sponsored by Sen. Tony Avella, passed the Assembly in early March and is currently before the Senate's Environmental Conservation Committee.
