Nearly $716 million in grants, tax breaks and other incentives were awarded Wednesday as part of the state’s annual Regional Economic Development Council awards, with the Mid-Hudson region raking in about $59 million—the sixth-largest of 10 awards. Afterward, it was all smiles from state lawmakers, education officials and other council members, including Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, D-Yonkers.
“Any time you get almost $60 million to continue to pump resources into economic development in the region, it’s a good day,” Stewart-Cousins said. “This has been an incredible process. You see people come together to really fight for the best of economic growth in our region.”
