If the April 1 deadline is met, it would be the 3rd year in a row

April First is the deadline for NY's budget, and the State Senator from Oneida says this year's will be on time, with a bonus for school districts.

Senator Dave Valesky was our guest on Weekend Today in Central New York on NBC3 Saturday morning, and says the 'no new taxes' budget will come in by deadline for the third year in a row.

"We're gonna get it on time," the Oneida Democrat told us, "keeping to our spending caps in the state, closing another deficit, hopefully finding a few more resources for school districts."

Valesky also told us that once the budget work is done, the Senate will be looking at a bill he's sponsoring, to grow the state Buy Local program by creating a designation for restaurants called Dine: Pride of New York. It would identify eateries that have at least 15% of their total ingredients as products either grown or processed in New York State.
