New Legislative Session for 2013 Starts Soon - New District Lines in Effect

Hugh T. Farley

Dear Friend:

Happy New Year! With the new year, the new Legislative District lines are in effect. One major change is that I will no longer be representing Montgomery County, which means I must close my Amsterdam district office. I expect to open a new office in Ballston Spa and will let you know the contact information when it is available.

The geographic size of my district has more than doubled with the addition of all of Hamilton County and the Herkimer County towns of Fairfield, Manheim, Ohio, Russia, Salisbury and Webb. I still represent all of Fulton County. In Saratoga County, I now represent the towns of Ballston, Charlton, Clifton Park, Corinth, Day, Edinburg, Galway, Hadley, Malta, Milton, Providence and portions of the city of Saratoga Springs. In Schenectady County, I now only represent the towns of Glenville, Niskayuna, and most of the City of Schenectady.

The new Legislative Session for 2013 will kick off on Wednesday, January 9th, with the Governor's State of the State Address. It will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany. It will be broadcast online and will most likely be "aired" at http://www.governor.ny.gov/ The text of his message should also be available on this site as of Wednesday afternoon.

I look forward to representing my new area and digging in to the issues of the new Session. When the Governor releases his Executive Budget for State Fiscal Year 2013-2014, I will be reviewing it closely and will keep you updated with the progress of the budget.

Best regards.

Cordially,

Senator Hugh T. Farley
