NY Senate's Marchione seeks Women of Distinction
Saratogian, Tuesday, March 19, 2013
ALBANY — In observance of March as Women’s History Month, Sen. Kathy Marchione is seeking nominations from across the 43rd Senate District for the State Senate’s Women of Distinction Program.
Women living in the 43rd Senate District, which includes parts of Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington counties, and all of Columbia County, are eligible. The deadline for entry is March 25.
All of Marchione’s nominees will receive a Senate certificate and have their achievements publicly recognized during a local ceremony in May. In addition, their picture and biographical information will be included in a commemorative program.
One applicant from the district will be selected by Marchione and an advisory panel to be part of the Senate’s Women of Distinction for 2013 and honored during a public ceremony held in Albany on May 7. That nominee will be included in the Senate’s statewide Women of Distinction program, website and public gallery.
The advisory panel includes Linda Sharpe of Germantown, a lifelong educator who has served children for 35 years; Susan Reynolds of Easton, who had a long career in the arts and education, and Sheila Lobdell of West Sand Lake, who has more than 20 years of business management experience.
