Thomas F. O'Mara

Senator O'Mara, Assemblyman Bill Nojay and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano took the opportunity last Saturday (July 27) in Hornell, on the main court of the Gus Macker Tournament, to honor Zach Bacon, one of the region's outstanding high school athletes.

A recent graduate of Hornell High School who'll be attending and playing football at Alfred University this fall, as a high school senior Bacon was a two-time state champion in football and wrestling -- the first such two-time champion in Hornell's history.

The area state legislators sponsored a Legislative Resolution during the 2013 legislative session honoring Bacon's achievements, including an incredible, undefeated (44-0) season in wrestling.

They officially presented the Resolution to Bacon on Saturday (watch here).  Hornell High School's wrestling coach, Scott Johnson, and football coach, Erik Werner, also paid tribute to Brown during the ceremony.
