Senator Bill Perkins was actively involved in the recent World Federation of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Clubs, Centers and Associations 2014 International Conference; marking the first time this renowned event had been held in New York City in over three decades. He presented a proclamation to those gathered for the opening ceremonies—wherein he commended all those gathered for “playing a vitally important role as grassroots ambassadors and real time bootstrap advocates of the resounding core message of peace and unity espoused in UNESCO’s constitution and the universal declaration of human rights.” Furthermore, he noted their “immense local impact and contribution to the international community’s reflection on social problems and enabling countries to broaden their scope of action in UNESCO’s fields of concentration.”
