SENATOR MARCELLINO HONORS KOREAN WAR VETERAN DOMINICK FEENEY AS HE IS INDUCTED INTO THE NYS VETERANS’ HALL OF FAME
Senator Carl l. Marcellino today announced that Korean War veteran Dominick Feeney of Huntington was inducted into the New York State Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame.
“I am extremely proud to have had the opportunity to honor Dominick Feeney at this year’s Veterans’ Hall of Fame. He has demonstrated an immense dedication to serving his country, and his patriotism should not go unrecognized,” said Senator Carl L. Marcellino
The Veterans' Hall of Fame was created to honor and recognize outstanding veterans from the Empire State who have distinguished them both in military and civilian life. Their meritorious service to our nation deserves the special recognition that only a Hall of Fame can provide, as a fitting expression of our gratitude and admiration.
Dominick Feeney had just turned 18 years old when he enlisted in the United States Army. The Korean War started in the year 1950, and after being sworn in, Mr. Feeney was sent to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, for training as a paratrooper. Upon completion of his training, Mr. Feeney was sent to Korea in 1951. Landing in Pusan, he was transferred to the 25th infantry division, where he was deployed to Pyong Yard above the 38th line. As the cold weather set in very quickly, Mr. Feeney developed frostbite on his feet and was admitted to the M.A.S.H. Unit.
Mr. Feeney fought alongside the United Nations forces and the South Korean Army. For his courageousness and his service, he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, The Korean Service Medal and three Service Stars.
Committed to giving back to his community and the country he so valiantly served, Mr. Feeney has been active with local V.F.W. Post 1469 for more than 50 years, acting as Commander from 1965-1966.
