Celebrating 150 Years of Elmira ~ 'Celebrate 150' gets underway today
From today's Star-Gazette, "Just in time for Elmira's "Celebrate 150" party on Friday, decorations were going up Thursday in the form of new signs at intersections from Second to Water streets and from Main Street to Madison Avenue. The sesquicentennial sign project in Elmira's central business district is hoped to promote a sense of community and emphasize the importance of neighborhood preservation and revitalization. The placement of the signs on Thursday coincides with the city's "Celebrate 150" party from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday on East Water Street."
