Queens Chronicle - College Pt. street cleared

Tony Avella

State Sen. Tony Avella (D-Bayside) reports improved conditions on a College Point street that was littered with industrial parts and construction material.

Since bringing it to the public’s attentiion last month, the area around 124th Street and 28th Avenue has been cleared.

“After calling on the city to seize any materials or debris deposited on the streets and sidewalks, I am glad to see that this area has been completely cleared and pleased to note that the residents of this area can once again walk on their sidewalks,” Avella said, adding that monitoring will continue of the businesses.

In other news, the senator announced his snow removal program for seniors will return for its third year and that volunteers are needed.

“With winter just on the horizon, it is vital that our seniors are prepared ... Our seniors need our help and I encourage as many volunteers as possible to participate,” he said.

Volunteers of all ages can contact Avella’s offce at (718) 357-3094. Students receive 10 hours of community service credit.
