On Saturday, the NY Times reported on big news about my parks equity push. You may remember that two years ago, I wrote a NYT Op-Ed with the unheard-of idea (at the time) to link the largest parks conservancies to our city's most under-resourced parks. Well, we did it -- and even better, the conservancies have stepped up voluntarily.
Also on Saturday, the Daily News printed my Op-Ed about our state's shocking failure to meet peoples' constitutional right to a speedy trial. We've seen a lot of positive movement on bail reform; but we also need speedy trial reform. That's why I introduced Kalief's Law, to help ensure the innocent are free, the guilty are sentenced, and the accused receive swift, and fair, justice.
