More honored during Black History Month

Before February ended, area elected officials hosted more Black History Month events acknowledging Queens residents.

State Sen. Jose Peralta (D-East Elmhurst), top, united with the Corona-East Elmhurst branch of the NAACP last Thursday in Corona to recognize five community members, including Giovanna Reid, Community Board 3’s district manager. The Black Institute’s Bertha Lewis, top right, earned a Lifetime Achievement Award.
