ELMA, N.Y. -- A state Senator from Western New York is pushing new legislation that would reform what he calls controversial aspects of the SAFE Act.
State Senator Pat Gallivan is introducing a package of bills that would amend several parts of the law. If approved, it would allow gun owners to pass their weapons on to family members through their estate.
The bills would repeal the part of the law allowing only seven rounds to be loaded into a magazine. The definition of what is considered an assault weapon would also change.
Gallivan has co-sponsored several other bills that would actually repeal the SAFE Act.
