NEW YORK (WENY) -- The deadline is looming for volunteer firefighters who hope to apply for college tuition money in New York State. October 2, 2015 is the last day to apply for tuition reimbursement for the upcoming college semester through the Firemen's Association of the State of New York.

The association's Higher Education Learning Plan, also known as HELP, pays for up to 100 percent of college tuitions for dedicated firefighters.  Any active volunteer firefighter is eligible and the opportunity applies at all the community colleges across the state.
