BIG FLATS – The success of the DeMet’s Candy Co. facility here can be largely attributed to the commitment and passion of its employees, company CEO Trip Tripathy said Thursday.

“Obviously, a big part of success is people, and we’ve been lucky and fortunate to build a workforce here that is passionate, dedicated, wanting to be part of a food business like ours,” he said before a groundbreaking ceremony for a two-phase, $41 million expansion that will increase production capacity by 50 percent and create 70 new jobs. The facility currently has 125 regular employees.
