New York State has taken steps over the past several years to encourage the development and growth of local craft brewers, hard cideries and distillers.

That effort continues to pay off across the Finger Lakes region.

The growth of this local industry represents a great addition to the regional agriculture, tourism and hospitality industries.  It's being built on the excellence of handmade spirits, the quality of the craft and a commitment to locally grown fruits and grains.

Two local distillers -- Finger Lakes Distilling (Burdett) and Myer Farm Distillers (Ovid) -- were among more than 30 distillers from across the state chosen last May to participate in the prestigious Manhattan Cocktail Classic, one of the industry's premiere events.
