News from the Institute for Human Services, Inc. (IHS) that a new program is underway in Steuben County to "engage, mobilize, and empower new riders of public transportation."
According to a recent news release from the IHS, "Transportation continues to remain a principal issue in Steuben County. Many seniors and persons with disabilities - the very people public transportation can benefit most - are intimidated by the public transportation system. To address this need, Steuben Coordinated Transportation Mobility Management, in collaboration with Steuben County RSVP, has launched a new program called Bus Buddies."

Senator O'Mara has been highlighting the critical importance of public transportation, particularly in many rural, Upstate counties and communities. Earlier this year, for example, the New York State Senate unanimously approved legislation co-sponsored by the senator to focus state and local attention on the future of public transportation systems in rural New York.
