Ortt’s Lockdown Drill Bill Signed into Law to Protect Children

Senator Ortt’s bill requiring lockdown drills to become mandatory in school s was recently signed into law as part of the state budget. Under the new law, four lockdown drills would be required in the first half of the year. Fire drills would be decreased from 12 to eight to avoid burdening schools with more mandates. The law takes effect this July.
