New rule in state budget changes LIRR on-time standard to 2 minutes

An LIRR train is considered on-time if it's up to six minutes late to a station, but many commuters say that’s a problem.

Now state lawmakers are changing the policy, making a train officially late if it is two minutes late.

State Sen. James Gaughran says the new time standard is one aspect of the "MTA Rail Act" that's included in the state budget.
