Editorial: Senate taking aim at high drug prices
When he was given this post, Skoufis promised that he would use its powers to do what previous Senate leaders had not. And while New York state and its government are what they call a target-rich environment when it comes to investigations, he promised that he was not going to use his new powers to pursue partisan or political targets. Instead, he promised to dig into areas that would have the potential to help all in the state and in his investigation into these managers, he has delivered.
“Every single day in this state, someone is forced to choose between buying medication that they need and buying groceries for the week,” Skoufis explained. “This is an atrocity and a failure of government oversight. Price hiking has plagued consumers for decades and we are currently at a point where it has gotten out of control.”
