“It’s very important we hear how these financial issues translate into schools” said State Sen. Shelley Mayer (D-Westchester), the chair of the Senate’s Education Committee.
New Yorkers will get a chance to lay out their gripes with the controversial funding formula that distributes money to the state’s public school districts in a Queens roundtable with state lawmakers next week.
The discussion, which will be held at Bayside High School at 10am on Nov. 19, is one in a series of community talks the lawmakers are holding as part of an effort to revamp the state’s Foundation Aid Formula, which doles out billions of state dollars each year.
