Elected officials hold school supply drives in Rockville Centre
State Sen. Todd Kaminsky and Assemblywoman Judy Griffin have organized Back to School Supply Drives to prepare students who may not have access to necessary supplies for the first day of school. Suggested donations include backpacks (new or gently used), No. 2 pencils, pens, notebooks, folders, crayons, colored pencils, rulers, safety scissors and binders.
“Many students do not have access to the essential school supplies they need to be successful,” said Kaminsky. “And we all know that when communities band together, great things happen. This school supply drive is a small investment that will make a big impact in helping the students of our community achieve their full potential.”
Donations will be accepted from now until Sept. 6, and can be dropped off at Kaminsky’s district office, located at 55 Front St., Rockville Centre. Contact Halie Meyers at 516-766-8383 or at meyers@nysenate.gov for more information.
Griffin is collecting at her office at 74 N. Village Ave. through Aug. 30. For more information, call (516) 561-8216.
