Brooklyn pol blasts NYCHA for failing to hit heat plan deadline

A Brooklyn State Senator is demanding the New York City Housing Authority make public its plan to ensure residents get heat and hot water during the winter — even if the plan isn’t yet complete.

State Sen. Zellnor Myrie is questioning why NYCHA hasn’t released a mandated action plan on how to respond to heat outages. He told the Daily News that even if the plan hasn’t been finalized, NYCHA and the federal monitor overseeing it should put out some guideposts for residents worried about the coming winter.

“We cannot go through another heat season when folks are left out in the cold both literally and figuratively,” he said.
