Myrie channels $200K to Brooklyn youth groups to help fight gun violence after mass shootings
A Crown Heights lawmaker announced a $200,000 cash infusion for youth organizations dedicated to combating gun violence in neighborhoods throughout the borough on Friday.
State Sen. Zellnor Myrie channeled the funds toward religious, anti-crime, youth, and educational groups following shootings in Brownsville and Crown Heights, and claimed it’s high time the state’s top executive followed suit.
“Today, we are proud to invest in communities that bring peace and hope to our community and to prevent further tragedy, we demand that the governor’s office does the same,” said Myrie, speaking to press outside his Nostrand Avenue district office.
