Audio: WCNY Capitol Pressroom Interviews Kavanagh on Eviction Moratorium & Unpaid Rent

On May 14, Senator Kavanagh spoke with WCNY's David Lombardo on Capitol Pressroom about the moratorium on residential evictions, recently partially extended to August 20, and what can be done to assist tenants who cannot pay the rent due to lost income during the COVID-19 state of emergency. 

"Once these bills are due, we are looking at very substantial amounts of unpaid rent, and our proposal is to create a rental assistance program.  It's loosely modeled on the current Section 8 program which provides vouchers to cover people's rent, but it is substantially more generous because its intent is to keep people in place and to cover the rent that they need to pay to stay in their homes during this emergency." -- Senator Kavanagh
