Residents, elected officials and former members of the U.S. armed forces joined together on Nov. 22 at the Long Beach Terrace to salute those who have served their country as part of the Honor our Heroes event.
John Robbins, the commander of the Chwatsky Jewish Veterans Post 717 in Oceanside, officiated the ceremony as many uniformed veterans joined community members on the pool deck at 10 a.m. to start the service.
The festivities included a moment of silence, the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and the playing of the taps and patriotic music. State Sen. Todd Kaminsky also addressed those gathered at the event.
