Nyack High School senior Jadyn Turner remembers the last time she saw her cousin Alyssa Alhadeff. The Turners were visiting the Alhadeffs in Parkland, Florida, and the cousins were planning to see each other very soon.

Weeks later, Alyssa was killed in the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting in Parkland, Florida. Alyssa was shot 10 times. She was a 14-year-old freshman and a soccer standout.

On Friday, Jadyn Turner stood outside her high school with state Sen. Elijah Reichlin-Melnick,  Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski, Nyack School District Superintendent James Montesano and others as they advocated for “Alyssa’s Law.”
