Kaminsky attains $44,150 for Five Towns child care centers
Congregation Sons of Israel in Woodmere was given a grant for more than $30,000 and the Five Towns Early Learning Center in Inwood was awarded roughly $14,500 through the CARES Act with the assistance of State Sen. Todd Kaminsky, a Democrat that represents the Five Towns.
“Congregation Sons of Israel, Woodmere is grateful to Senator Todd Kaminsky for his support in assisting us to help secure this grant funding,” Executive & Educational Director Harriet Gefen said in a news release. “The grant will be immensely helpful as we continue to provide Early Childhood Day Care services to the greater community during this pandemic and beyond.”
The child care facilities will use the grant funding to obtain personal protective equipment and other materials, along with augmenting services and ensuring children are educated and cared for in a Covid-safe manner. The Five Towns Early Learning Center will also use the funding to enhance remote learning capabilities.
“We are grateful for his support and he really expedited it,” the Early Learning Center’s Executive Director Pepper Robinson told the Herald. “We used it to pay salaries and it helped us stay open and keep everyone employed. It was scary.”
