Road repair into nature museum covered by state grant

The state has provided $125,000 to repair the one-mile road leading to the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum in Cornwall.

“The center plans a pivotal role in preparing our future generations to responsibly care for our environment,” said Senator James Skoufis (D, Cornwall), who secured the funding through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.

He said the potholes were so deep that after it rained, snapping turtles would lay their eggs in them and ducklings would swim.

“Now, the wildlife is back in the ponds where they belong and it’s smooth sailing from the gate to the bottom of the road for our more than 15,000 annual visitors, over 100 Young Naturalist Preschool families, our staff, board and volunteers,” said Robert Lipkin, assistant executive director of the museum.
