Brooklyn neighborhood market owner wins award commemorating 25 years

Cherry Hill Gourmet Market, a staple in the Brooklyn community for a quarter of a century, finally received its "just desserts" on Nov.20.

David Isaev, owner and CEO of the establishment, was presented with the New York State Empire Award on behalf of his 25 years of service and dedication to the community by Democratic New York State Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton at Isaev's Cherry Hill establishment on Emmons Avenue in Sheepshead Bay. The market is within the former space of Lundy Brothers Restaurant, which was know for its seafood and was an unofficial Brooklyn landmark for more than 50 years. 

Scarcella-Spanton, who represents the 23rd District -- serving the North Shore of Staten Island, as well as parts of Southern Brooklyn that include Sea Gate, Coney Island, Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Sheepshead Bat -- called Isaev "very community minded, and a wonderful person", adding that he is a true partner to the Be Proud Foundation, the community board, the precinct, elected officials - and anybody who really needs help.
