STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— New York state Senators Nathalia Fernandez (D-Bronx) and Jessica Scarcella-Spanton (D-North Shore/Brooklyn) met with a Staten Island behavioral health coalition last week amid what remains an ongoing substance use epidemic.
Community leaders and service providers in TYSA — a multi-sector coalition of more than 50 partners working to improve local outcomes in behavioral health for youth — hosted a tour of the Camelot residential in-treatment center on the Seaview Hospital campus, according to a press release.
On Staten Island, local leaders in government and law enforcement were briefed in September by the city’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan on the latest data outlining overdoses, emerging trends, seizures and arrests pertaining to a rising number of fatalities, addiction and homelessness across New York City and the nation.
