New bill would exempt Staten Islanders from Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge tolls
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Two of the borough’s state legislators will make Staten Island drivers very happy if their proposal to provide free trips to Brooklyn becomes a reality.
Assemblyman Charles Fall (D-North Shore) and State Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton (D-North Shore) have introduced new bills in their respective chambers that, if passed, would exempt Staten Island residents from paying tolls when crossing the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.
“Staten Islanders already deal with some of the longest commutes in the country, and we need to make sure we are doing everything we can to alleviate the burdens of their commutes, including exempting residents from tolls,” Scarcella-Spanton said.
