New laws ensure benefits, resources for New York veterans

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — As the country honors military members in observance of Veterans Day, the state’s top elected official has announced new laws to better serve those who have served our nation.

On Friday, Gov. Kathy Hochul signed seven pieces of legislation that will provide additional benefits, resources and support to New York veterans and their families.

“You can be assured that as chair of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, I will continue to work to make sure effective legislation is passed for our New York state veterans and will always fight for them how they fought for us,” said State Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton (D-North Shore/South Brooklyn).
