New York State Senate Passes Sen. Scarcella-Spanton's Resolution To Establish April As Month Of The Military Child

STATEN ISLAND AND BROOKLYN, NY – This week, the New York State Senate adopted a resolution to establish the month of April as the month of the Military Child here in New York State. The newly-adopted resolution was introduced by Senator Scarcella-Spanton, who chairs the New York State Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs.

“Our military families and their children make countless sacrifices to serve our country and keep us safe, and it is essential that we take the time to acknowledge and honor their contributions. Military children face unique challenges as they navigate frequent moves, deployments of their parents, and the stress that comes with having a loved one in harm’s way. Military families move on average every two to three years, which causes military children to constantly change schools, make new friends, and adapt to new support networks. In my family’s case–my husband deployed when our daughter Emily was just ten days old. Despite these challenges, military children demonstrate remarkable resilience and strength. And that’s why I’m proud to sponsor memorializing the month of April as the month of the military child here in New York State.”-Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton
