STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) reached a major milestone on Thursday, making and surpassing a total of 1,000 city job offers to New Yorkers so far this year through its series of job fairs.

Hundreds of people, resumes in hand, attended DCAS’ Hiring Hall – its eighth event this year – held at the JCC Gerard Carter Center in Stapleton on Thursday. Various city agencies, such as the Parks Department, the NYPD and the Sanitation Department, were present to provide information about the thousands of open city positions and interview applicants on site.

Thursday’s event was sponsored by Adams, DCAS, City Council Member Kamillah Hanks, DC 37 and the Jewish Community Center of Staten Island. The event was co-sponsored by: State Senators Jessica Scarcella-Spanton and Andrew Lanza; State Assemblymembers Charles Fall and Sam Pirozzolo; and Council Members David Carr, Council Minority Leader Joseph Borelli and Speaker Adrienne Adams.
