STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 30-foot spruce from the Nichols Family on Clinton Place served as the main attraction — a dazzling centerpiece for the Port Richmond Avenue Christmas tree lighting ceremony held on Tuesday, Dec. 12. The Advance/Silive.com food editor Pamela Silvestri did the honorary flip of the switch.

Mario Buonviaggio of Port Richmond Strong and the North Shore Alliance expressed an effusive appreciation of the audience, about 300 attendees. He introduced elected officials on hand, City Councilwoman Kamillah Hanks and State Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton. Both spoke briefly from the porch of a newly renovated colonial home.
