Maimonides Health celebrates first anniversary of Bay Ridge Emergency Department

Maimonides Health celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Bay Ridge Emergency Department on July 25.

Maimonides Health celebrated a new milestone last week, marking the first anniversary of the Bay Ridge Emergency Department.

Hospital leaders and local officials gathered on July 25 to honor the team’s efforts and their commitment to patient care for the communities of Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and beyond.

The celebrations featured two distinct programs recognizing the outstanding contributions of the emergency department staff. The first event, a day program, brought together community leaders, healthcare professionals, and satisfied patients at the center to thank the staff for their hard work and dedication.

Speakers included Ken Gibbs, president and CEO of Maimonides Health; Dr. John Marshall, chief medical officer; and Dr. Eitan Dickman, chair of emergency medicine, along with local elected officials such as Council Member Justin Brannan and State Sen. Iwen Chu.

Part two of the ceremony took a more laid-back approach, as two Maimonides health professionals — Dr. Ahmed Rashed, medical director of the Bay Ridge Emergency Department, and Brianne Stoffer, nurse manager — threw out the first pitch during a Brooklyn Cyclones game. Stoffer was also recognized as the “Woman of the Game.”

According to a Maimonides representative, the center located at 9036 Seventh Ave. has already secured accolades in its first year. It boasts an average wait time of five minutes, making it one of the fastest emergency care providers in all five boroughs. The emergency medicine team has garnered impressive patient experience and length of stay scores, ensuring timely care when it matters most.

As Brooklyn’s largest healthcare system, Maimonides Health serves over 300,000 patients annually through its extensive network of hospitals and outpatient centers, including Maimonides Medical Center, Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital, and Maimonides Children’s Hospital — Brooklyn’s only pediatric trauma center.

This month’s anniversary marked Maimonides’ continued efforts to improve healthcare access and services in Brooklyn.
