D.A. McMahon leads tour at future site of Staten Island Community Justice Center

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — District Attorney Michael McMahon led a tour Friday of what he believes will transform public safety on Staten Island.

Also joining McMahon on Friday’s tour were Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for New York City Courts Deborah Kaplan, Administrative Judge for New York City Criminal Court Tamiko Amaker, Administrative Judge for Civil and Criminal Matters Desmond A. Green, Surrogate Court Judge Matthew Titone, State Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton (D-North Shore/South Brooklyn), a representative from the Office of the First Deputy Mayor of New York City Sheena Wright, along with representatives for Hanks, Gov. Kathy Hochul, Assemblyman Charles Fall (D-North Shore/Brooklyn/Lower Manhattan), Assemblyman Michael Tannousis (R-East Shore/South Brooklyn), the Office of Court Administration (OCA), the Center for Justice Innovation (CJI), and the Department of Citywide Administrative Services.

“I am so happy to see Mayor Adams and Councilmember Kamillah Hanks invest $5 million towards the revitalization of the former criminal court building into a community justice center,” said Scarcella-Spanton. “Thank you to District Attorney Mike McMahon for spearheading this effort and recognizing that keeping our communities safe is a multi-faceted challenge that should include programming that addresses the root causes of public safety issues. I look forward to continuing to work with our partners in public safety to advance this project and bring it to fruition.”
