‘Do the right thing’: Officials gather on Staten Island to urge Hochul not to revive NYC congestion pricing
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- In response to recent reports that Gov. Kathy Hochul is looking to resurrect congestion pricing, elected federal, state and city officials joined forces at a press conference Tuesday to call for an end to the controversial plan.
Tuesday’s press conference, hosted by State Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton (D-North Shore/South Brooklyn), drew politicians from across the aisle and across New York state to push back on congestion pricing.
“We have people from every corner of New York City, from Upstate here, saying that congestion pricing needs to end,” Scarcella-Spanton said, before thanking Hochul for the indefinite pause. ”Continue to do the right thing, that 66% of New Yorkers stand behind, or else you’re going to lose a lot of us.”
