N.Y. offering $2.3B in property tax relief: What homeowners need to know

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Gov. Kathy Hohcul touted New York’s efforts to provide nearly 3 million state residents with $2.3 billion in tax relief through the School Tax Relief (STAR) program on Thursday.

In highlighting these ongoing efforts, Hochul shared that more than 2 million residents have already received their tax relief, while nearly 1 million others are expected to see such relief in the coming weeks.

“As legislators, we should be doing everything possible to make New York State affordable for our families to grow and thrive in, and that includes ensuring that hardworking New Yorkers have the capacity to have childcare and keep their children fed,” State Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton (D-North Shore/Southern Brooklyn). “As a parent of two, I know firsthand how critical it is to put money back into the pockets of working parents, and I am so glad that these initiatives are working hand-in-hand to prioritize the economic well-being of New York’s families.”
