Rep. Malliotakis vows to fight congestion pricing until President-elect Trump takes office
BROOKLYN/STATEN ISLAND - DAYS AFTER A STATE SENATOR URGED NY GOV. HOCHUL to implement congestion pricing, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-11) on Tuesday, Nov. 12, joined a bipartisan group of local elected officials united against the potential return of congestion pricing The group pointed out that President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to terminate the program during his firstweek back in office in January.
Malliotakis stated her intention to prolong the fight until after Inauguration Day on Jan. 20 and to find every possible legislative and legal angle to abort congestion pricing, The group fighting congestion pricing has several Democrats as well, including State Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton (D-23), who cited environmental and health concerns, such as high asthma and cancer rates.
