Staunch Staten Island veteran advocate Lee Covino honored at memorial service

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A memorial service in honor of the life and legacy of veterans advocate Lee Covino was held at the Father Capodanno Memorial Chapel in Fort Wadsworth on Saturday.

“I am immensely proud to honor Mr. Covino posthumously as this year’s honoree for the New York State Senate’s Veteran Hall of Fame,” state Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton said. “Even in his final days, he remained dedicated and proud of his work with the veteran community. He was supposed to be released the day after he passed away, and despite his condition, he was so proud and determined to attend this year’s event.”
