STATEMENT: Senator Rob Rolison's Co-sponsored Melanie's Law Signed by Governor

Senator Rob Rolison (39th District) released the following statement today after participating in an official signing ceremony for his prime co-sponsored legislation, Melanie's Law:

 

"Today is the culmination of years of advocacy and effort on behalf of victims of abuse. Sunday would have been Melanie's birthday. This critical legislation will finally provide the Chianese family with some measure of closure to their tragedy, protect domestic violence victims, and strengthen New York's criminal laws by closing an unconscionable loophole. As prime co-sponsor of Melanie's Law, I am grateful for the opportunity to help deliver this bill and stand up for victims of abuse across our state."
