ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Mental Hygiene Committee budget hearing was held Tuesday, a meeting for the public to give their testimony along with commissioners to explain allocation of the funds.

Officials say the points brought up in the meeting hosted by State Senator Samra Brouk were more mental health investments into the workforce and expanding youth mental health support.

Brouk says hearings like these are vital for gathering research to appropriately create their overall one house budgets.

“We need to do more for our youth, we need to do more for our workforce, and of course we need to do more when it comes to mental health crisis,” Brouk said.

Officials say they will also be pushing this year to get a pilot for Daniel’s Law in this year’s budget to get people in mental health crises the help they need.
